About Us

About West Michigan Bass

West Michigan Bass began in 2006 as a pickup league on Monday nights—just a group of buddies enjoying some friendly competition to start the week.

It didn't take long for the club to grow in popularity. By 2008, it adopted the name "Case of the Mondays," a phrase made popular by the movie 'Office Space.' COTM, as it was commonly known, had a website, published schedules, a championship classic, and over 50 members. During these years, we experimented with various formats and rules, eventually settling on the format currently in use.

In 2010, West Michigan Bass was presented with an opportunity to grow, and the Southern division was born. At that time, WMB doubled the number of tournaments it hosted to 24 a year and increased its membership by approximately 40%. WMB operated successfully at this level with steady member growth year over year until the fall of 2013, when a new opportunity for growth emerged.

Beginning in 2014, WMB nearly doubled the number of tournaments hosted once again. Alongside the successful "Case of the Mondays" weeknight series, the new weekend series called the "Hair of the Dog" was introduced. All 2014 tournaments culminated in a season-ending “Classic” tournament with a significant payout to the winners.

Today, WMB is the larget tournament organization in Michigan - boasting over 200 tournaments a season on every day of the week. Nearly 1000 members participate in any given season and hundreds compete in our Classic Championship for a piece of the $20,000 purse. WMB also offers tournament services for charity and fundraising events as well as local business partners.

West Michigan Bass hosts 100% payback, family-friendly bass fishing tournaments. We welcome anyone to fish with us in any division. We are also ideal for parent/child teams, as younger anglers are not required to pay for membership. As always, we strive to promote a positive and entertaining atmosphere at every tournament. For us, fishing is not only a passion and a way to compete, but also a means to escape the daily grind and—most importantly—a way to have fun with good friends.
